Capital Lakefair
This annual event runs today through the weekend. The festival includes food, entertainment, kit car races, fireworks, boat races, games, a parade and more.
Kids Day is Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. at Sylvester Park, Olympia. The celebration is open today and Saturday from noon to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. with fireworks beginning at dusk. Lakefair will be held in Hertiage Park, 330 5th Ave SW, Olympia. McChord Air Expo 2008
Because of the current conflicts, this will be the first expo McChord has held since 2005. Join the Airmen for this free event Saturday and Sunday at McChord Air Force Base. In addition to a number of civilian and military flying acts and numerous static displays, the show will feature the Air Force’s aerial demonstration team, the Thunderbirds.
Fort Lewis visitors should use the bus system from Fort Lewis to McChord. Buses will drive directly to the Air Expo entry area. Gates open at 8 a.m. and flying begins at 10:30 a.m. For more information, visit www.mcchordairexpo.com.
Tacoma Rainiers Baseball
The Seattle Mariners AAA minor league affiliate, the Tacoma Rainiers, play at home this weekend against the Tucson Sidewinders. Game times are tonight and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for general admission and $9 for reserved tickets.
Concessions start at $1. Friday night’s game features fireworks. Saturday night’s game features the Family Meal Deal which includes four tickets, four slices of pizza, four Rainiers caps, two large pizzas and two orders of Crazy Bread for $44.
