Action Line

An Action Line has been established to allow Fort Lewis community members to express their concerns and ideas directly to the commanding general. Your issues will be addressed by the commander and his staff.

The Action Line number is 967-0093.

Gate construction

Contractors will be doing final installation, maintenance and performance checks on the security apparatus at East Gate, Transmission Line Gate, and North Fort Gate from May 1 to 7. The contractor will set up traffic controls including route signing for detours and flaggers as needed.

● May 1: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — East Gate Road will be closed for both inbound and outbound traffic between the intersection of 2nd Division Drive and 4th Division Drive. Traffic entering or exiting East Gate during those times will be routed onto 4th Division Drive.

● May 4: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — 4th Division Drive will be closed for both inbound and outbound traffic between the Combat Vehicle Trail and East Gate Road. Traffic exiting East Gate will be required to continue straight ahead, and traffic on 4th Division heading towards East Gate will be routed onto the Combat Vehicle Trail.

● May 5: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Combat Vehicle Trail between Transmission Line Road and Lincoln Boulevard will be closed. Any vehicle attempting to move to or from the Logistics Center area via the Combat Vehicle Trail will need to find an alternate route.

● May 6: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — Transmission Line Road will be closed between the gate and the intersection of Collier Avenue. Traffic attempting to enter or exit Transmission Line Gate will be routed to the Combat Vehicle Trail and Lincoln Boulevard. Tactical Vehicles will be able to use the tank trail that parallels Transmission Line Road to access ranges and training areas that are outside the cantonment area. POVs attempting to enter the training area will have to use East Gate.

● May 7: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. — 41st Division Drive inbound lanes on North Fort will be closed from the security checkpoint to San Francisco. The outbound lanes between San Francisco and the North Fort Gate will be converted to one lane inbound and one lane outbound. Once inbound vehicles process at the security checkpoint they will be merged into one lane. DES will extend the hours of the I Street Gate to give motorists another viable option for entry to North Fort. I Street Gate will be open from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m.
