Friends of the Northwest Guardian will notice soon that the work of our photojournalist, Ingrid Barrentine, will be missing from our pages for a while. Ingrid and her husband, Joe, brought Rosanna Hart Barrentine into the world since we last published, and as she should, Ingrid will be focusing her attention on her.

Most everything you need to know about Ingrid was evident from her work in the days before she gave birth, from speed walking a race route to volunteering to don a swim suit to shoot an underwater assignment.

We were fortunate to get an award-winning veteran, Jim Bryant, to fill in for Ingrid, but her unwavering professionalism will be missed.

Nevertheless, if we were to design a replacement, the result would look a lot like Jim. He comes with military experience, albeit in the Navy, and has shot photos for a variety of national publications, both on staff and free lance. We’re happy to have Jim on board to continue the tradition of quality art that is so important to the look of the Guardian.

So congratulations to the Barrentines and best of luck in taking care of Rosie, born on the West Coast while another hurricane made landfall in the East. Best wishes from the entire JBLM public affairs staff.
