McChord ready for inspection of ‘no fail’ mission

Published: 01:51PM November 18th, 2011

It is going to take a total team effort to successfully complete our Nuclear Surety Inspection that started Tuesday and ends next Monday ... and Team McChord is ready!

This demanding NSI will test every aspect of our Prime Nuclear Airlift Force mission, our Nuclear Surety Program and our Personnel Reliability Program.

While most people are familiar with the 4th Airlift Squadron’s role in PNAF, this critical mission touches more units of the 62nd Airlift Wing and 627th Air Base Group than many people realize.

In fact, this inspection involves the command post, wing plans, 627th Force Support Squadron, 62nd Aerial Port Squadron, 62nd Medical Squadron, 62nd Maintenance Squadron, 62nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, 62nd Mission Operation Squadron, 627th Logistics Readiness Squadron and 627th Security Forces Squadron.

As the Air Force’s only wing that possesses the PNAF mission, McChord Airmen performing duties associated with this crucial mission are charged with maintaining the highest possible standards of individual reliability and professional competence- 24/7/365. Our PNAF motto says it all ... “PNAF ... Perfect ... Always!” I know we’ve met and exceeded that incredible level of excellence, and now it’s time to showcase our expertise and professionalism.

From the meticulous maintenance of our aircraft to the exacting medical care of our aircrews, Team McChord carries out this critical mission everyday with precision, proficiency and professionalism. I want you all to share the pride and accuracy we take in our PNAF mission with the inspectors as they visit your work areas and examine your procedures.

Nuclear Surety Inspection parameters are extensively detailed and demand the highest standards of compliance and accountability. There is no margin for error in operations within the nation’s nuclear enterprise ... I can’t stress it enough: PNAF is the 62nd AW’s number one, no-fail mission.

Our upcoming NSI is a chance to show the inspectors that we are the best at what we do. I have no doubt they will be impressed with the high caliber work we accomplish here ... I know I am!
