Ski n’ board Summit Jan. 28. $40. Spend a fun day on the slopes at the Summit at Snoqualmie Saturday, Jan. 28. (Transportation only: $20).

Texas Hold ‘Em Jan. 28: Play to win in a one-day Texas Hold ‘Em tournament at the club and community center at McChord Field Saturday. Prizes include $300, $200 and $100 gift cards for first, second and third places.

Sign-ups begin at 1 p.m. in the Heritage Room; the tournament begins at 1:30 p.m. The $18 cost includes a light buffet. A no-host bar is also available.

Winter survival trip Jan. 28 and 29. $65. Head to Paradise at Mount Rainier National Park for an overnight trip to learn the basics winter travel, shelter construction and winter survival basics, backcountry cooking and “leave-no-trace” camping. This winter expedition departs from JBLM Saturday and returns Sunday. Participants must attend a pre-trip class Jan. 25 at the NAC at JBLM Lewis North. Fee includes the winter camping class, group gear, entry to Mount Rainier National Park and two meals. Minimum age: 18.

Ski n’ board at Crystal Jan. 29. $40. Head for the snow and spend the day at Crystal Mountain. (Transportation only: $20).

ATV rider course Feb. 4. $25. If you’ve never been on an all-terrain vehicle or want to work on your riding skills, this clinic is for you. ATV Safety Institute-certified instructors will guide you through the fun and excitement of safely riding an ATV. Ride rain or shine, so dress for the weather. Fee includes ATV, helmet and goggles. ASI ATV Rider Course Certification will be awarded upon completion. Minimum age: 16.

Indoor skydiving Feb. 4. $80. Soar inside a vertical wind tunnel. Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced flyer, you’ll always be able to improve your skills and abilities while learning from professional instructors. Enjoy two weightless minutes of flight time with instructor. Call for weight restrictions and exclusions. Minimum age: 3. Family-friendly trip.

Ski/board Mission Ridge Feb. 4. $45. Travel across the mountains to ski at the beautiful Mission Ridge Ski Resort. (Transportation only: $25).

Snowshoe lake trail Feb. 5. $35. Surround yourself with breathtaking views of a snow-capped forest. The trail to Reflection Lake starts at Narada Falls. Difficulty: moderate; distance: 3.5 miles; elevation gain: 500 feet; time: 4 hours. Minimum age: 16.

Aquarium/Pike Place Feb. 5. $35. Travel to the Emerald City to visit the Seattle Aquarium and Pike Place Market. The aquarium is filled with local exhibits, a visiting harbor seal and many amazing things to see and touch. Pike Place Market has an assortment of unique food and shops for you to try, so join us. The trip fee includes admission to the aquarium. (Ages 4–12: $25; ages 3 and younger: $5) Family-friendly trip; reasonable accommodations can be made for persons with special needs.

Big Game parties

Feb. 5: Pick your Super Sunday party from three locations on Joint Base Lewis-McChord.

Catch the action at Nelson Recreation Center with a Madden tournament at 1 p.m., free munchies and cushy comfort; McChord Club’s Pub & Deli party with free hot dogs and other food for purchase, or Heroes Lounge at Cascade Community Center with free chili at half time.

Military Day at Crystal Feb. 8. $40. Don’t miss the chance to ski or ride Crystal for half price. Transportation and gear are provided. Lift tickets are not included but can be purchased at the mountain. (Transportation only is $20).

Snowshoe Gold Creek Feb. 10. $35. Snowshoe by the light of the moon. Gear, guide and instruction are provided. Minimum age: 12.

Snowmobile Cascades Feb. 11. $125. Fun, action, beauty and excitement await you Saturday, Feb. 11! For those seeking a fun-filled winter experience, this trip through the Cascade Mountains is just for you! Helmet, boots, gloves and snowsuit are provided. Dress in layers. Fun for the entire family! Minimum age to drive: 16. (Adult passengers: $90; passengers 15 and younger: $60) Family-friendly trip; reasonable accommodations can be made for persons with special needs.

Wine & chocolate tour Feb. 12. $75. Head to the Olympics Sunday for a wine-and-chocolate tour for your taste buds. Price includes event admission, samples and commemorative glass. Must be at least 21 years of age.

After-work kayak class Feb. 15. $20. Head to the pool to learn self-rescue techniques and paddling skills so you’ll be more confident on open-water trips. Minimum age: 12.
