Every year on Thanksgiving Day, we pause to take stock of our blessings bestowed upon us and give thanks for our families, friends, loved ones and the way of life we cherish and hold so dear.
For more than a decade, our nation has been at war. Servicemen and women have been deployed to places around the world defending our freedom and putting their lives on the line. We are thankful for their duty and commitment to defending our national security.
We are also grateful for our family members who are keenly aware of the sacrifice. The blessings of freedom and liberty have been provided because of their willingness to bear the burden and hardship of being a spouse or loved one of a Soldier, Sailor, Airmen or Marine.
On behalf of our grateful nation and to all the brave men and women who are on point at this hour and to all the family members who so diligently love and support them, thank you. On this Thanksgiving Day, I ask that we gather in the spirit that defines Thanksgiving and count our blessings, of which there are many, and to share those blessings with our family and loved ones. Patti and I want to extend our best wishes to the Joint Base Lewis-McChord Team for a safe, healthy and Happy Thanksgiving!
