Ski/board White Pass
Jan. 26: $50. Travel to White Pass for a great time on the slopes. The pass is hosting the Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Jamboree, so youll have the added option of taking to the trails to cross-country ski or snowshoe. Gear will be available for rent at the pass. Snowshoe Paradise
Jan. 27: Explore Mount Rainiers Glacier Vista with a snowshoe trip to Paradise. Difficulty: moderate to difficult; distance: 3 miles; time: 3 hours. Minimum age: 12.
Aquarium, Pike Place
Jan. 27: $35. Go to the Seattle Aquarium and Pike Place Market for a great day sight-seeing. The aquarium is filled with local exhibits, a visiting harbor seal and many amazing things to see and touch a favorite of kids of all ages. Pike Place Market has an assortment of unique food to try and shops to check out. Fee includes admission to the aquarium. (Ages 412: $25; ages 3 and younger: $5). Snowmobile Cascades
Feb. 2: $160. For those seeking a fun-filled winter experience, give snowmobiling a try! The trip will bring you fun, action, beauty and excitement as you zip through the snow of the Cascade Mountains. Not only are snowmobiles provided, but helmet, boots, gloves and snowsuit are as well. Shoe Hurricane Ridge
Feb. 3: $60. Discover the beauty of the Olympic Mountain Range with a snowshoe trip. Join us and hit the trails that offer something for everybody. Minimum age: 12.
Ski Keechelus Lake
Feb. 3: $40. Spend a day in the snow-filled Cascades skiing along Keechelus Lake! Head toward Snoqualmie Pass. Difficulty: easy; distance: 5 miles; time: 3 hours. Minimum age: 12.
Half-price at Crystal
Feb. 7: $45. Dont miss the chance to ski or ride Crystal for half-price! Military Appreciation Day, and were providing your ride to the mountain and gear, if needed. Lift tickets should be purchased at the mountain. Transportation only is $25.
Winter survival camping
Feb. 9-10: $75. Join the Outdoor Recreation Program and head up to Reflection Lake in Mount Rainier National Park. This overnight trip will teach participants the basics of trip preparation, winter travel, shelter construction and winter survival basics, backcountry cooking and leave-no-trace camping. A mandatory pre-trip class will be held at the Northwest Adventure Center at Lewis North Feb. 6, 5 to 6 p.m. The trip fee includes winter camping class, group gear (not including sleeping bags), entrance into Mount Rainier National Park and two camp meals. Participants are responsible for lunch on the first day. Minimum age: 18.
Ride near Rainier
Feb. 9: $80. Head to Elbe, a town in the outskirts of Mount Rainier National Park, for a two-hour guided afternoon horseback ride. No experience is necessary. Bring the entire family along for a great day. Minimum age: 7. Popular family trip.
