Operation Kid Fit looking for parents

Fitness: Molly Koczarski, registered dietitian and facilitator for Operation Kid Fit, is looking for parents of military children to participate in focus groups this month.

Operation Kid Fit is a program which aims to help military parents who are struggling with their child’s weight.

Dates and times of the group are to be determined.

Register for youth fitness program

Fitness: Registration is open for Child, Youth and School Services program Get Fit, Be Strong.

The running and fitness program is for youth ages 8 to 15.

The parent’s meeting is Feb. 28 and practice starts March 3. The season ends May 30.

Register at CYSS Parent Central in Building 2295 on Lewis Main.

Attend intramural volleyball info meeting

Intramurals: The intramural volleyball season begins this spring. Interested units/teams should plan on attending an information session.

The meetings are March 4 at Soldiers Field House at 1 p.m. and March 5 at McChord Fitness Center at 1 p.m.

Sign up your child for youth baseball

Sports: Registration is open for CYSS baseball until March 28. Spring baseball is open to youth ages 5 to 15 for $60 and Lil’ Batters is open to ages 3 to 4 for $20. Practices for both begin April 21 and the season ends in June.

Fairchild to play JBLM in basketball tourney

Intramurals: JBLM will host Fairchild Air Force Base on March 1 for an exhibition basketball tournament. A JBLM women’s and men’s team will play a best two-out-of-three game format against the visiting Airmen at Soldiers Field House.

Race calendar opens with Shamrock Run

Races: The 2014 JBLM Race Calendar starts off March 15 with the annual Shamrock Run, the popular run that coincides with St. Patrick’s Day.

The run includes 5K and 10K routes and starts and finishes outside the FMWR Fest Tent on Lewis Main. Start time is 11 a.m.
