What unique housing challenges have you faced during military service?

“Having to do an unaccompanied tour to Alaska because the housing market isn’t strong enough, and we wouldn’t get enough renting to cover the mortgage payment."

– Adrieanne Mostowy Reed

“We are due to PCS soon, I am absolutely terrified of the thought of having to make a mortgage payment AND rent! We would love to sell, but (though when we bought our house) stayed well below our budget, we are upside down and will take a huge hit!”

– Terri Keller

“We bought in 2011 and had to move within a year with new orders. Found a military renter with extreme financial issues of their own. Our house was foreclosed upon this last summer. No assistance was brought up or offered — VA loan is gone and so is credit.”

– Stacia Arlint

“We were lucky. We bought a house in fall 2011. My husband got orders this year, put our house on the market and it sold within 3 weeks. We aren’t making anything, but glad we don’t have to worry about renters.”

– Jessica Pack Traweek
