Summer youth sports, camps set

Youth: There are still openings for a number of youth sports made available through JBLM Child, Youth and School Services and SKIES Unlimited, including Special Olympics, basketball, flag football, soccer, golf, karate and gymnastics.

Children as young as 3-5 can also have fun with the Start Smart Sports Camp July 22-24 and Bumblebee Soccer beginning in August.

Army Ten-Miler time trial July 12

Races: Runners who seek to qualify for the JBLM Army Ten-Miler Team will have one more opportunity to do so 8 a.m. July 12.

Top runners will join the JBLM team to compete in the All-Army Ten-Miler Competition October 12 in Washington, D.C.

Annual Mud Run scheduled July 19

Races: Get ready to run through the mud in the ninth annual Down and Dirty Mud Run, 10 a.m., July 19, at Soldiers Field House on Lewis Main.

The event’s theme encourages participants to dress as their favorite super heroes as they traverse the mud and water on a 5K run. Deadline for registration is noon July 9 and is $15 for all DOD ID card holders ($25 without).

Military specials for Seafair events

Races: The entry fee for two of Seafair’s athletic events is only $20 each for military service members, starting with the Seafair Triathlon 6:30 a.m., July 20 at Seward Park in Seattle.

Indicate your military branch at time of online registration at www.seafair.com/military and automatically be entered in the triathlon’s Military Challenge.
