Get dirty fast with JBLM mud run

Races: Get ready to run through the mud in the ninth annual Down and Dirty Mud Run 10 a.m. Saturday at Soldiers Field House on Lewis Main.

The event’s theme asks participants to dress as their favorite super heroes as they traverse mud and water on a 5K run.

Deadline for registration is noon July 9 and is $15 for all DoD ID card holders and $25 for people without a DoD ID.

Get golfing with McChord program

Golf: Learn the sport with America’s “Welcome to Golf” program being taught July 21-24 at Whispering Firs Golf Course on JBLM McChord Field.

Eight hours of group instruction, on-course playing lesson and complimentary rental clubs.

Class is limited to 12 golfers and a minimum of four.

Krav Maga seminar scheduled July 25

Fitness: Join Tsahi Shemesh, United States Director of International Krav Maga, and his team for a Krav Maga seminar 2-6 p.m. July 25, at Wilson Sports and Fitness Center on JBLM Lewis North.

Trainers will cover defenses against chokes and grabs, daily situations and weapon disarm.

All experience levels are welcome.

Rainiers hold vet appreciation day

The Tacoma Rainiers are hosting Veteran’s Appreciation Day at Cheney Stadium on July 26, beginning with a Veterans Appreciation Expo 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot between the stadium and Foss High School.

Veterans also can purchase military-discount tickets to one or both games in a doubleheader against the Sacramento River Cats, starting at 6 p.m. Some tickets include a limited edition hat.

Race Stadium’s stairs at Unleashed

Races: Runners and walkers will get to race the stairs Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Stadium High School Bowl. 814 stairs up, 814 down, for a total of 1,628.

The event raises money to benefit rescue animals of Kindred Souls Foundation.

Individual registration is $35 and $105 for teams of three.

Military registration with valid ID is $25. Youths between ages 8 and 17 can sign up for $15.
