Show off your football skills

Youth: Boys and girls, 6-15, can come out and participate in the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick competition 1-3 p.m. today at the CYSS Athletic Field on JBLM Lewis Main. There are five age groups kids can be signed up for at the athletic field the day of the event. No cleats allowed; wear sneakers. Learn self-defense from top instructor

Fitness: Join Tsahi Shemesh, United States Director of International Krav Maga, and his team for a Krav Maga seminar 2-6 p.m. today at Wilson Sports and Fitness Center on JBLM Lewis North.

Rainiers to host Appreciation Day

Sports: The Tacoma Rainiers will host Veteran’s Appreciation Day at Cheney Stadium tomorrow, beginning with a Veterans Appreciation Expo 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the parking lot between the stadium and Foss High School.

Veterans can also purchase military-discount tickets to one or both games in a doubleheader against the Sacramento River Cats, beginning at 6 p.m. The Group-Express Ticket for $15 includes a reserved seat ticket and a ballpark meal. The Military Double Play Ticket for $25 includes a reserved seat, meal and limited edition Rainiers hat.

Stadium Bowl stairs ‘unleashed’

Races: Runners and walkers will get to race the stairs Aug. 3, at the Stadium High School Bowl. 814 stairs up, 814 down, for a total of 1,628. Event raises money to benefit rescue animals of Kindred Souls Foundation.

Individual registration is $35 and $105 for teams of three. Military registration, with valid ID, is $25. Youths between ages 8 and 17 can sign up for $15.
