If you’re looking for a job in the new year, here’s your opportunity to network and find out what opportunities are out there for transitioning service members, military spouses, family members or veterans.

Recruit Military is offering an opportunity to connect with business owners and representatives of law enforcement, health care, federal contractors, transportation, logistics, finance and educational institutions at a free job fair, at the American Lake Conference Center Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Recruit Military, an organization previously known as

“We provide the spark that ignites organizations to excel, by helping them hire and retain America's best talent — its veterans,” according to the website.

Recruit Military has been holding job fairs across the country for nearly a decade. The organization boasts holding about 100 job fair events nationwide each year.

“We provide a unique experience that opens doors to careers with employers who understand the value of the veteran population,” according to the Recruit Military website.

The upcoming event is the first of several job fairs and hiring events planned at JBLM this year, according to Shane Watson, transition services specialist with JBLM’s Service Member for Life Transition Assistance Program.

“We have some great events planned and many opportunities for those who want a job to find one,” he said.

The Recruit Military job fair targets transitioning service members and family members, as well as veterans.

There will be opportunities to meet face-to-face with dozens of companies looking to hire.

“These companies are hiring for a multitude of different markets including: law enforcement, health care, finance, educational institutions, federal/contract positions, transportation, logistics and more,” according to information provided by Watson.

Additional upcoming job fairs planned at American Lake Conference Center include the Operation Good Jobs Veteran Networking and Hiring Event, Feb. 1; and, Hire G.I.’s Job Fair scheduled for March 30.

Also, the Washington Army National Guard Aviation Readiness Center’s Redifining Your Future two-day conference for transitioning servicewomen and women veterans will be at the Washington Army National Guard Aviation Readiness Center, 2nd Division Drive, Bldg. 6224, March 8 and 9.
