Whether you aim to help that Valentine’s archer Cupid make the heart grow fonder, have some family fun or raise some funds for a good cause, there are plenty of activities to accomplish those goals around Joint Base Lewis-McChord and the Puget Sound during the week leading up to Valentine’s Day.

As for spending the traditional hearts and flowers holiday with those you know and love, or at least know and like a lot, the area offers everything from fine dining and wine tasting events to free family movies and a dress-down fundraising event, the one-mile Cupid’s Undie Run.

Here are some local ideas for Valentine’s romance and fun:

Free Indoor Movies, • STAR Center, 3873 S. 66th St., Tacoma, Friday at 6 p.m. Enjoy a double feature for the whole family of the Disney classic love story and its sequel, “Lady and the Tramp” and “Lady and the Tramp II.” Attendees should bring a blanket, pillow or low chair to sit on. The event is free for all ages; children must be accompanied by an adult.

• Portland Avenue Community Center, 3513 Portland Ave., Tacoma, Friday at 7:30 p.m., featuring Disney’s “The Jungle Book.”

Wine and Chocolate, W.W. Seymour Conservatory in Wright Park, 316 S. G St., Tacoma, Friday from 5:30 to 7 p.m. This event offers a stroll through the conservatory, wine and truffles, live music and floral displays. Cost is $40; $30 for foundation members.

First Harvest Hearts and Wine event, The Rotary, 4130 1st Ave. S., Seattle, in the SODO district, Friday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Take part in an evening of wine tasting, live jazz, buffet dinner, games, raffles and a live auction of rare wines and vacation experiences. The event is open to adults, age 21 and older. Cost is $80. Several free parking locations are near the facility.

Walla Walla Wine Tasting, McCaw Hall, 321 Mercer St., Seattle, Monday at 5:30 p.m., doors open at 5 p.m. This is an opportunity to sample some of the more than 50 wines from the Walla Walla Valley’s finest wineries. The event is open to adults, age 21 and older. Cost is $50.

Cupid’s Undie Run, 731 Westlake Ave. N., Seattle, Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. The event is a fun run with a party atmosphere. Participants are encouraged to come in their underwear or whatever they feel comfortable wearing. Similar events are scheduled in more than 30 cities across the country.
