Whether you’re planning a big wedding or a simple ceremony with a few close friends, now is the time to begin getting what likely will be the biggest day of your life in order.
Some local wedding and bridal expos already have taken place this month in the Pacific Northwest, but several local events are coming up soon and offering information to begin planning your big day.
One of the largest local bridal events is the South Sound Wedding Show, planned for Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Marcus Pavilion at St. Martin’s University in Lacey. This show features fashion shows at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
Vendors for everything from flowers and photography to barn wedding locations, music, food and cake tastings will be present. Raffles for wedding related items also play a part in the event. Last year’s event had raffles for honeymoon trips and catering.
Discounted $8 tickets are available through Saturday on the southsoundweddingshow.com site. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Although last year’s bridal fair event at American Lake Conference Center isn’t on the schedule this year, other local events can meet the needs of most engaged couples.
The Tacoma Spring Wedding Expo at the Tacoma Dome offers a plethora of all things wedding and is scheduled for March 24 and 25 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets are $16 each, and three-for-two coupons are available in advance at tinyurl.com/ybe38dg6.
Another upcoming bridal event is the Environmental Services Building’s fifth annual Bridal Showcase at 9850 64th St. West in University Place.
This free event, March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., offers brides and grooms-to-be an opportunity to connect with local vendors, win prizes, taste catering samples, check out wedding hair demos, cake makers, DJs, wedding planners and photographers.

South Sound Wedding and Event Magazine, which hosts the South Sound Wedding Show in Lacey, also offers two free South Sound Wedding Workshops — at Indian Summer Golf and Country Club, 5900 Troon Lane SE, in Olympia, March 8 from 6 to 8 p.m.; and at Titlow Lodge, 8425 Sixth Ave., in Tacoma, May 10 from 2 to 4 p.m.
The South Sound Wedding Workshops are for engaged couples who want to learn tips on planning their wedding, tour the venue and sample the food, plus meet a few wedding professionals in an intimate setting. Guests are invited to bring parents, maid or man of honor and wedding planners. Plan to stay for the entire two hours.
